Explore Nature by Foot and on the Ground
We offer close to a dozen different trail experiences, including hiking through one of six trails in the Primary Tropical Forest as well as tours that take you to the Salitral, Azufrada, and Tobogan waterfalls.
Cover More Ground on Horseback
If you want to pack more sights into a shorter amount of time so that you can experience even more activities in Guanacaste, try our horseback riding excursion that compresses a four-hour walking tour into two-and-a-half hours. You’ll pass through the lush forest, see the rich biodiversity of Costa Rica, walk by a sulfur mine, and even go down a water slide if your heart desires.
See it all From Above
Life is better at the top, as they say, and we agree! Our hanging bridges allow you to explore Guanacaste from a height of 20 meters by walking across 16 bridges. It’s a purely magical experience.
A Must for Bird Lovers
Our temperate climate means that visitors can observe beautiful and exotic birds year-round. Delight in their rich colors and unique songs.
Nocturnal Guanacaste Costa Rica Tours a Different Forest Experience
The forest changes at night, and we offer a night hike so you can fully experience it! This is something completely different and one of our guests’ favorites!
Adventure Day Tours
No Guanacaste tour would be complete without a zip line experience, and our activities are some of the best in the business. Safety is our number priority, so enjoy this exhilarating adventure and observe birds, monkeys, butterflies, jaguars and more without worrying about anything.
If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, try our Tarzan Swing, a free-fall from 50 meters at the end of the zip line.
We also offer horseback riding tours ranging from 35 minutes to two-and-a-half hours where you can explore the forest, pass through rivers and take a swim at the end. Bring your bathing suit because there’s a natural water slide that’s a guest favorite.
Wellness Day Tours
No vacation would be complete without a healthy amount of pampering. Enjoy massages, hot springs, and savory organic food when you try one of our wellness tours.
Whether you want to relax in one of our natural springs or take a mud bath, both of these activities are an excellent thing to try before a massage. Mud baths are known to be beneficial, and a volcanic mud treatment is even better. The high sulfur content helps draw toxins away from the body, while also tightening your pores. Once you rinse, the sulfur smell will be gone, and you’ll be left with a feeling of tight, youthful skin!
Something that makes our hot springs unique is their location in the heart of the forest. We have natural thermal pools with different temperatures, so you can find the one that’s just right for you. Plus, you’ll be accompanied by the relaxing sounds of running water and surrounding wildlife.
Did you know that we also have an organic farm on site? We grow organic fruits, herbs, and vegetables. Plus, we have a delightful hen house where we get fresh eggs each day. We also have a milking parlor where we produce whole milk and artisan cheeses, all at the Buena Vista!
What makes us particularly proud is that we are one of only seven companies in all of Costa Rica to be awarded the Tourism Sustainability Certification in Gastronomy, plus we received the top distinction of five leaves by the CST (Certification of Sustainable Tourism).
Guanacaste Costa Rica Cultural Experience
We have a wide array of cultural activities in Guanacaste because of our rich heritage and preservation of our cultural roots. Once you’ve finished your outdoor adventures and you’ve been adequately pampered in our spas, it’s time to eat and explore!
If you’re a coffee lover, then you must check out our coffee tour, featuring Costa Rica’s production of Grano de Oro (Grain of Gold) coffee. You’ll learn about every step of production, from planting and harvesting to drying and toasting. It’s unlike anything you’ve seen before as we’ve stuck to traditional methods and techniques. You’ll also get plenty of samples, and experience firsthand how the volcanic soil and tropical climate enhance the flavor of this beverage.
Want some cream in your coffee? Wrap up your coffee break and meet up with our farmers who milk our resident cows by hand for onsite milk, cheese, yogurt, sour cream and other dairy products. You can even observe their artisan cheese making process and sample a delicious offering of white “cuajada” cheese combined with freshly made corn tortillas.
In fact, you’ll get to make the tortillas on your own in your Fonda Tour, also known as Kitchen of the Haciendas. In this activity, see the traditional cooking methods of using clay stoves with wood as the heat source. And of course, you’ll be enjoying these freshly made tortillas with our coffee!
Once you’ve had your fill of savory treats, you can learn more about Precolombian style pottery from local craftsmen. The ceramics they make have their roots in Costa Rica’s Chorotega Indian culture using clay directly from the land. The artwork is rich in earth tones and features the biological diversity of the area.
